Construction is beginning on a 14,000 square-foot Iowa Health primary care physician clinic in the Prairie Trail development.
Family Physicians at Prairie Trail and Internal Medicine at Prairie Trail, 2515 S.W. State St., Ankeny, is expected to be open in May 2011.
The clinic will have five family medicine doctors, four doctors of internal medicine and one doctor of occupational medicine, digital radiography and a medical lab. Visiting specialists in critical areas such as cardiology and orthopedics will also provide care.
Building is being done by Hubbell Construction Services.
The clinic will be open extended hours several days a week.
This will be one of four Iowa Health clinics in Ankeny, including the original Ankeny Clinic at 1105 N. Ankeny Blvd., which will continue to provide family medicine and urgent care.
The Ankeny Pediatric Clinic at 909 S.W. Oralabor Road will become a Women’s and Children’s clinic. Five pediatricians will remain and three Ob/Gyn doctors and an advanced nurse practitioner will join the clinic.
Blank Children’s Pediatric Physical Therapy has moved to 2701 Convenience Blvd.
Another health care option, Iowa Health Express Care, provides walk-in care at Hy-Vee, 410 N. Ankeny Blvd.
