Ankeny's Prairie Trail Development possible spot for new Hy-Vee
Hy-Vee Inc. has committed to Ankeny's Prairie Trail Development - sort of. According to the Polk County assessor, Hy-Vee purchased 13.4-acres from DRA Properties LC for $4.7 million on Sept. 14, but Hy-Vee officials aren't certain they'll build a store on that site right away.
"It's safe to say we don't have an immediate plan for a store there," said Chris Friesleben, a spokeswoman for Hy-Vee. "We see it as a good spot for future growth."
The lot is located at 1710 S.W. Oralabor Road. Friesleben said the Hy-Vee store at 410 N. Ankeny Blvd., is serving the community, and the company will wait until more construction has been done in Prairie Trail before moving forward.
