Welcome to the monthly Prairie Trail newsletter! The objective of this newsletter is to keep you informed about Prairie Trail with relevant information and insights.
Prairie Trail is a significant development for Ankeny and for Central Iowa, and our goal is to communicate with our stakeholders and partners on a regular basis.
Four-day Charette Held for Prairie Trail Development
The City of Ankeny and master developer DRA Properties participated in a four-day charrette to create a draft master plan for the Prairie Trail development. A charrette is an intensive design process that involves the collaboration of all project stakeholders at the beginning of a project to develop a comprehensive plan or design. Lead planning firm Urban Design Associates and planning consultants challenged participants to combine the insights of the community and property owners with the national planning expertise of the consulting firms.
The charrette resulted in completion of a master plan draft for Prairie Trail that includes residential areas, a town center, commercial and office areas, places for civic facilities, and ponds, parks, trails and green corridors. The master plan draft will be reviewed and refined by DRA Properties, the City of Ankeny and the consulting team over the next several weeks. A final report on the master plan will be presented in June of 2006.
