Welcome to the monthly Prairie Trail newsletter! The objective of this newsletter is to keep you informed about Prairie Trail with relevant information and insights.
Prairie Trail is a significant development for Ankeny and for Central Iowa, and our goal is to communicate with our stakeholders and partners on a regular basis.
Information Gathering Process Nears Completion
The information-gathering portion of the master planning process for Prairie Trail, which began in January, is nearing completion. The majority of research for the commercial and residential market analyses has been completed and will help guide future decisions. A review of existing roadway systems, internal roadways identified in the concept plans, and potential traffic generators in the development has also been completed.
The foundational work for storm water management continues as new information on watershed areas, wetlands, soils, and topography of the site is examined. Several maps showing the different physical characteristics and uses of the property in and around the site have been developed, and architectural themes that capture the flavor of buildings in central Iowa have been identified.
The information, maps and reports will be used in an intensive four-day master planning session scheduled for early April. Urban Design Associates and its consulting partners along with DRA Properties and the City of Ankeny, will draft a master plan for Prairie Trail to be presented in June 2006.
